  • Maintain a healthy weight: Being overweight or obese increases your risk of diabetes. Aim to achieve and maintain a healthy weight by eating a balanced diet and getting regular physical activity.

  • Eat a healthy diet: A diet that is high in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins can help reduce your risk of diabetes. Avoid processed foods, sugary drinks, and foods high in saturated and trans fats.

  • Get regular physical activity: Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity activity each week. Regular physical activity can help you maintain a healthy weight and lower your risk of diabetes.

  • Don’t smoke: Smoking increases your risk of diabetes and many other serious health problems. If you smoke, quitting can lower your risk of diabetes and improve your overall health.

  • Limit alcohol consumption: Drinking too much alcohol can increase your risk of diabetes. If you choose to drink alcohol, do so in moderation, which means up to one drink per day for women and up to two drinks per day for men.
