Court Sends Father and Son To Prison For R*ping Daughter, Sister

Michael Ayinde, 51, and his son Abiola, 19, are being held on remand by a magistrate court in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, for allegedly raping their daughter and the latter, who is their sister.

The defendants’ petitions were rejected by the magistrate, Mrs. O. O. Ogunkanmi, who instead ordered their incarceration at the Abolongo correctional facility in Oyo town.

The complainant’s father and elder brother, the defendants, are said to have committed the crime at their home in the Agboti Olosan neighborhood of Alakia, Ibadan, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Ogunkanmi stated that the remand of the father and son in custody was to allow the court to await legal advice from the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The case was adjourned until Feb. 21 for mention.

The complainant’s brother, Abiola Ayinde, is accused of having illicit sexual relations with his younger sister between December 2021 and December 2023, according to the prosecution’s attorney, Inspector Gbemisola Adedeji, who testified in court.

Adedeji added that Abiola allegedly impregnated her without her consent.

Their father, Michael, is accused of having illicit sexual knowledge of his 17-year-old daughter without her consent over that same time period.
