Why Messi Went to Saudi Arabia After the PSG Defeat
The purpose of Lionel Messi‘s trip to Saudi Arabia with Paris Saint-Germain has been made public.
The Argentine stirred some controversy when he arrived in Saudi Arabia the day after PSG’s humiliating 3-1 loss to Lorient at home in Ligue 1 on Sunday.
According to RMCSport, Messi’s trip might be a requirement of his deal with the Saudi Arabian government to serve as the nation’s tourist ambassador.
It was reported that the 2022 World Cup champion from Argentina signed a deal with them.
The former captain of Barcelona had shocked his Instagram fans with a post urging travel to Saudi Arabia.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has recently been extensively linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, or SPL, thus the timing of his statement piqued interest.
Messi wrote: “Who thought Saudi has so much green? ” in the Instagram post’s caption. I enjoy discovering its unforeseen surprises whenever I can.
In the meantime, Messi and his family were welcomed to Saudi Arabia for a vacation by Ahmed Al-Khateeb, the country’s minister of tourism.
